Three base model V8 muscle cars with Track Packages.

2014 Camaro 1SS w/ 1LE package: $35,850

Kinja'd!!!

My Personal Choice. Most expensive but possibly most fun.

2014 Ford Mustang GT w/ GT Track Pack: $35,135

Kinja'd!!!

Live rear axle might take away some of the fun.

2014 Dodge Challenger R/T Classic w/ Super Track Pak: $34,085

Kinja'd!!!

Heavy. Very heavy.

Camaro, seeing as the 1LE was built for the 302, and 302 > GT

Camaro for me. Mustang would be my second choice. Minus that Color combo on the Challenger I would appreciate it slightly more.

Mustang. The Camaro is big in every way you don't want it to be and small everywhere else. The Challenger does the big car thing waaaay better.

How often can you honestly say you see a purple car? Unique colors are cool to me I guess.

I must have tunnel vision when it comes to the flaws of the Camaro. Because I don't see any of them. But Biased.

Mustang.

The Camaro is a too-heavy beast you can't see out of, and the Challenger is getting on in years and in dire need of an update.

I would go for the Camaro, because fuck Ford for putting a Chinese transmission in the Mustang.

Probably the Camaro, although the rarity of the Challenger... Tough decision.

The Mustang, not even on the radar. Antiquated, too fat, too ugly and there are way too many of them. Although the 2015 Mustang might change my mind, and I sort of hope it does.

I'd have to go with the Mustang. Actually, there's a Motor Trend head-to-head between it and the 1LE. It seems that the Mustang's shortcomings stem from being undertired compared to the Camaro (well, the LRA also plays a part) and squishy suspension settings. I'd rectify suspension/tires before considering it as a serious track car.

All 3 are fat pigs btw. The Mustang is the lightest by 200+lbs, but still quite fat.

04/11/2014 at 21:01

Kinja'd!!!0

Haha, yep ;)

I love the 60's Stangs. I like the 70's and the Mustang II. I am OK with the 93+ but they never got it right like they did in the 60's.

I hate Fox Bodies because they were so plain, but they still sold well and have a huge following despite my 2.0l Civic Si having as much hp and better 0-60 times stock.

Is it a horrible car, no. And if it sold on the same scale as a Genesis I would like it more. But I still think the other two are better cars.

I remember reading somewhere that a stripper LX notchback 5.0 Fox weighed in at under 3000lbs. While not featherweight, it's much better than any of these three.

The problem is actually FINDING a stripper LX notch 5.0 which isn't rusted to bits and in running condition with a clean title. One of those with the drivetrain of the 5th gen Camaro would be the ultimate pony car, in my book. I'd love to slap "SS" badges on a crappy Mustang and mess with people.

Camaro, because IRS and it looks better than the Challenger IMO. Still, if I could, I'd splurge for the ZL1.

The Camaro has always been the looker of this generation of Ponies. And yes, everyone would go for a ZL1 if they could.

I did say fat, not heavy. It was intentional. I am 200lbs with a 30" waist and I know guys my weight but much fatter...

:p

And it is really the package of it, it looks huge, feels huge. Way more than it should.

Interestingly, the heaviest also looks the thinnest of the three IMO.

LOL, exactly. And the same can be said of the V6's too. Every college girl and 16 year old male that want's a fast car buys Mustang, usually a V6. But it's a Mustang so it "Literally destroy your Z/28 because Mustang"

Kinja'd!!! lone_liberal > Logansteno: Bought a VW?

Mustang, Challenger, and then Camaro. I just can't deal with the design of the Camaro's interior and unfortunately that's the part you look at when you're driving. I don't need to wring out the last drop of performance from the car so I really don't care that the Challenger is Big and Beautiful.

Kinja'd!!! spanfucker retire bitch > Logansteno: Bought a VW?

Kinja'd!!!0

Heh. I suppose that was just redundant to say wasn't it?

"Gee, I don't know about you , but I'd go for the ZL1. As crazy as that sounds!"

I admit though, one of the biggest draws (for me, anyways) of the ZL1 besides its engine is the fact that (I think) it's the cheapest car you can get Magnetic Ride Suspension in, yes?

Kinja'd!!!0

You must be quite a bit bigger than me, because that's my waist size and I don't weigh 200lbs with a 5-gallon water jug over my shoulder...

Ah, you were talking stylistically. When I read "fat," I thought of weight and its effect on consumables (fuel, tires, brakes, etc). Yeah, none of these cars really try to hide their weight, but you wouldn't think that a Challenger is only a half-ton away from weighing as much as a minivan without putting it on a scale.

I don't know how I feel about the looks of the Camaro. It kinda looks like they tried too hard. Taillights are nice, especially the export tails that I see on Euro-spec cars (it's a mix of American and European-spec Camaros where I am, with Mustangs and Challengers being quite a bit rarer). I can definitely get behind the Camaro's powertrain, though.

I can't decide because I have only driven a convertible rental Mustang V6 auto (I didn't want convertible, it's all they had).

I've been in a Camaro V6 but not driven it. Never been in the Challenger.

I have watched videos but the opinions vary greatly. Some people say the Camaro's more advanced suspension makes it drive smaller than the Mustang. But other people say the lighter Mustang is more fun to drive.

I think the next Mustang GT with GT Track Pack will be the winner. Except that answer isn't allowed cause that car isn't for sale yet.

A little, just based on video reviews I've watched. But I really like the Mustang too.

The next Mustang GT really intrigues me. It seems like a Merican E92 M3. N/A DOHC V8. Independent suspension. And it will be lighter than the current one. And cheaper than an M3 to maintain. It could be a really awesome car.

6ft, just to fill in the blanks but I carry it well. I work out which means muscle and although I am not big (appx 18" biceps) it makes a difference on weight. Actually I stopped working out and dropped 30 lbs in about two months. Working on getting it back now and am at 184.

But I agree, the Challenger looks the smallest to me. But its all brute, no finesse. Looks, power...

Where are you that Camaros are more common than Stangs? Considering the Mustang outsells the Camaro and the the Mustang has been on sale longer that's pretty surprising.

Challenger.

Yes, it's about 50horses down on the other two, and it'll get owned on a track with corners but it has one thing that I feel the other two lack just a bit: Character. It's the only one of the 3 that I would call a true American muscle car

I can agree with that. The other two claim to be a modernization of the classics, but the Challenger literally looks just like a modern gen-1.

I'm currently in Germany. A very large majority of Mustangs/Challengers I see over here are driven by young American soldiers, with the rare import driven by a German. It's not as large a disparity with Camaros, since GM actually sells them over here. They're still mostly soldier-driven, though.
